No. 9 - Hinks Wells - Speedwell No. 431 SS
£3.60
Old but unused example from a vintage box of nibs.
Founded in 1836, Hinks, Wells and Co. had factories in Buckingham Street near Old Snow Hill and later at Bearwood. In 1852 they produced 1.82 M gross.
Hinks and Wells claimed the development of a self-acting pen making machine, shown at the Great Exhibition. This lead to a dispute with Joseph Gillott. In the end they shared the patent of the equipment which could cut, pierce and slit pens in one process.
The pen nib comes in a zip lock bag with a descriptive sheet. A great little momento.
Price includes 2nd class postage to the UK.
