13:30-15:30 SUNDAY 21st September 2025. Discovering Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter
Discovering Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter
This tour gets under the skin of the city. We follow the ‘secret canal’ to the Jewellery Quarter and see how a Georgian country estate grew into one of the world’s most inventive industrial environments.
We’ll explore everything from artisan jewellers to vast 19th-century factories that supplied the globe. But this isn’t just a history walk—we’ll also see the roles the Quarter plays in today’s city, and where Birmingham is heading next.
The tour mixes hidden corners, big questions and surprising stories. Your guide, local author and photographer Jonathan Berg, brings it all to life. At the end, you’ll receive a copy of Invention & Design: Elkington of Birmingham—a beautifully illustrated book that uncovers the mindset of Victorian entrepreneurs who helped shape our modern city.
A relaxed and thought-provoking way to spend a Sunday afternoon—with fresh air, good company and a new view of Birmingham.
